Guest Dave Claussen Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 Is it just my imagination or does it seem that the number of posts and threads on the pilothouse side of the forum is a lot less than it used to be on the old forum? Or maybe we just don't have as much to talk about. I hardly ever went over to the P15-D24 side but now with the two forums accessible from one place I like to read the posts there whenever I'm logged in to the forum(s). What's up guys? Cat got your tongue? Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 I think even with the old forums the Pilot House forum was only about 1/10 as busy as the P15-D24. I've often wondered what the difference between the number of trucks vs cars being restored or on the road is. Are the trucks really that outnumbered? Quote
grey beard Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 Wellllllll, now thatcha mention it, those P12/d24 fellers are off the subject about as much as they're on it. I routinely lurk there - usually very quietly - don't even let all my weight down, and the technical discussion in their threads is pretty slim pickins, some days. Having said that, they sure do have some powerful technical mavens there, when they want to flex their muscles. However, the fact remains that they will warm up to a thread about Hudsons or chopped and channeled cars faster 'n a cat! Don't know what that sez about their mentality - mebby they've talked so much tech talk that any diversion is welcome, huh? Quote

Can't speak for others:) Seriously, though, the technical stuff can get pretty involved. It's been invaluable to me in my project. I enjoy the OT stuff just as much. And you guys from the Pilothouse board are welcome to join in any time. Just don't start movin the chairs around too much Quote
greg g Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 As the beaver said to Ward, " Gee Dad, I have enough trouble makin sure I'm good for myself, now you want me to start being good for other kids too?" Quote
Guest Dave Claussen Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Well, that thought didn't cross my mind too much, but you have a point there. The "car side" does get very specific at times. I guess that's OK when it's all said and done. Maybe we just don't have as many posts 'cause there are less "truckers" than "car guys". It just seemed like every time I logged into the old forum there were 15 or 20 new posts to read and now it seems there's only a few whenever I check in. If you look at the numbers for the car side as opposed to the truck side, the proportion is roughly the same. The topics are mostly the same, which is to be expected, and since there's a section for off topic subjects, maybe that's where some of the posts are going. I'm glad we still have somewhere we can ask questions and get some good answers. Quote
Young Ed Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Another thing to consider is winter is setting in and some of us won't be doing much car stuff for months. I wont see my pickup or my p15 until april. That could maybe explain the slowdown between the old forum and new. Quote
Guest P15-D24 Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 On the old board I refreshed the car side every 7-10 days. On the truck side it was running months between refreshes. Traffic was increasing on the truck side, but nowhere close to the car side. I'm sure the reason is a lot less truck owners. Quote
52B3B108 Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 It's appeared to me that there aren't as many posts. Last winter there were always quite a few threads going at the same time. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 I think it's because after reading the forums for all these years I don't have to ask anymore questions. I know it all now. Yea, right Quote
52B3B108 Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Looks like no one is challenging your comment Bob so you must be right!! lol Quote
IanT_Qld Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 I eluded to this on one of the polls on the other side. Hence my vote for the OT section, at least that way the community interacts on some level. But I think also with the Northern Winter less work in cold sheds would have an effect. Quote
Ken_Hart Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Is it there is not as many truck owners as car owners or the truck owners are just quieter.. I also noticed that there is a real lack of parts forsale also.. are the parts just in so bad shape no one sells them or are they so hard to find no one wants to sell the extra parts they have. This should be the first place Pilot house owners go to look for used parts instead of Ebay or other online method.. (I will be posting some ads for susp parts in the coming weeks as I start my rebuild) Quote
Guest RLStroope Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 I enjoyed reading all the replys on this topic. We all have one thing in common and that is a love for old cars/trucks. It is not a matter of quantity of posts but the information contained within. Twenty years ago I could not find anyone interested in Dodge Pilothouse Trucks, and look where we are today. I am envious of those who have while I search for my next Pilothouse and I really like the idea of the car guys and the truck guys sharing. This is a great site. Merry Restoring, Rich Quote
