Don Jordan Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 My 48 4 door is stripped to the bone. I was going to send pictures but still haven't figured it out. The manager keeps telling me my pictures are too big and I don't know how to make them smaller. It's a silly thing. Anyway I just spent $1000 at Steele for rubber. The lady told me I timed it just right because the prices go up tomorrow. The problem is the "channel, flexible window run" they have is only for a '35. It is 5/8". The channel that came out of my car is 9/16". I wonder if the difference would be noticeable. I went to a Restoration place but all they had was stuff for rat rods. Any leads on channel runs? I took the seats in: $3000 for new, stock interior. I wish I had a kid so I could send him or her to college for a Masters degree. thanks, Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 I took the seats in: $3000 for new, stock interior. I wish I had a kid so I could send him or her to college for a Masters degree. thanks, And then you could spend another $30,000 per year for the kids Masters Degree. I'm sure you can get the right size channel. Don't have a suggestion off hand, but you see the stuff advertised all the time in magazines and catalogs. Also see it at the swap meets all the time. So........I'd keep looking until I found the right size. Quote
55 Fargo Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Reduce your pics then save it, use the tool bar header under Image. Or send it to yourself via email, from a doc folder, reduce them before sending them, then save in folder as a reduced copy of the original pic. then use the attachments manager, it will then work...............Fred Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 If you still have MS Paint in the assessories on your computer open the photo in Paint, click IMAGE, click STRETCH/SKEW and enter a ratio aspect to reduce your photo..make horizontal and vertical the same..right click for properties till you get the correct file size, SAVE AS, I name it for forum and then you can upload from your computer without need to host this image on the net.. Plymouthy Adams Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Paint will ask you when you go to SAVE AS if you want to save changes..just say no..!!! Original pic remains "original" Quote
Guest rockabillybassman Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 If you open a photobucket account and host your pics there, they will be the right size when you upload them here. Quote

Rodney Bullock Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 We have a place around called carlise PA. it's a big swap meet we go to at the beginning of the season. If you have a sample of your original channel( this can be found inside the door. I have found that Restoration specialties is the best friend of the home restorer. I see that you spent quite a bit of money on your rubber 1,000 I think you said. That's alot for the 1940 Plymouth I don't think I spent 300.00 total. If it's a 4door It would be a little more, At these swap meets the more you spend the bigger the break they give you that's why face to face buying is always better then when youn get on the phone with the co. they tend to give you a break and look for stuff that dosen't pop up easily. There are a number of companies that do rubber, I bet you did not know that Restoration specialtiy does rubber for steele did you. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 I go this stuff direct from Restoration Specialties for my car..as best I can measure and match up and being stainless beaded narrows it down to Y526 and comes in 6 foot length..it fits my channel and using clip 2435 is a perfect fit. Plymouthy Adams Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 I am not sure about the 90 bend..I looked close to my 51 and 52..the corners of the door and the glass is a soft radius..suggest when bending..that you use the glass itself to curve the metal it will bend to that degree without kinking...be sure the ends are not yet crimped so the metal wires inside will move inside the beads..the 6 foot section is enoughmaterial for the business coupe..will be waste..no getting around it.. Frank Blackstone Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 They have a lot of styles and sizes and I like there return policy if you do not like the quality. Anyone used them? Quote
Normspeed Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 I've bought a number of things from JCW over the years and their quality is OK, just gotta watch the shipping cost these days. For stuff like channels and door rubber you can call their 800 # and request a sample so you can verify that it will work in your application. edit..It may take quite some time to get the samples, mine took a few weeks. Phil Martin Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Got mine at glass shop. worked better tha what I got from one of the mailorder places. I think it was $2 a foot. Go to any glass place that does auto glass and they should have it. Quote
