I just got ripped off trying to buy a cylinder head. Who vets the maggots that sign up here?

They are everywhere and prey on any and all forums.  Did you deal on the forum in PM or off via e-mail.  Did you send funds friends and family and such....it seems you took the bait and they reeled you in.  Sure, it is not a bit funny.   But the forum cannot police the world...they can give you a means to identify the perp to prevent future cases....which in this case it seems you wish not to identify them....so....what do you expect anyone to do for you after the fact?

That is very true, you did not ask for anyone to do anything.....but I still think it would be a benefit to the forum at large to identify the perps. You ask who vets these folks....as in placing some blame.....who does not call these outs in public just perpetuates the problem.  My view, others I think will feel similar though they may not take the time to make an entry.

I think it's fitting to report any grievances, assuming that efforts were made to allow the "seller" to make it right before going public with it. Then on the opposite side, it is good to also report when a seller is upright and maybe even goes the extra mile. I have never purchased anything here, but I did once buy a car unseen (years ago, through Ebay), and the seller, having advertised it as "You can drive it anywhere", actually trailered it around 400 miles up north to me, because I took him at his word, and was planning to drive it home.  (It was drivable, but did need some work - wipers didn't work. A 75 Dodge Dart. Belongs to my son now, but no longer in running order.) Yeah, I was very naive.

I remember your post looking for an aluminum performance cylinder head here. Not sure of the extent of vetting on the site here and hope you are able to recover your funds, aluminum heads aren't cheap. If you were contacted based on your post there is a digital footprint that the state police, sheriff could follow up on to help. Best of luck to you.
