MBSoPaB Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Sadly, I am sharing with the P15-D24 community the loss of member El Guapo and OldNeon, David Webb. David's passing in August 2025, following a rugged 1.5 year battle with cancer, may not be new news, it is none the less a sincere loss to the flathead Mopar community. Perhaps you remember David from over at the Job Rated yahoo group, or briefly here with his activities on a B series moving truck and Fruehauf trailer, or his 1940 Chrysler coupe. My acquaintance and friendship started with David late in his life - 2010 he reached out to me about a 1942 cabover truck I had advertised, wanting only the hood ornament to finish off his '41. In the years that followed, we teamed up and covered many miles bringing treasures home, more than our fair share bearing initials of DCPD in the castings. A pile buck by trade, putting food on the table, David would describe himself as being gifted with a strong 'hunter-gatherer gene', ever since adolescence which took him coast to coast and across various continents chasing wonderful things, primarily focusing on Americana, which he surrounded himself with wherever he called home. Another gift of David's; storytelling. The one about the no-door Plymouth sedan? Yep. Best way to get that donor engine out of the WF truck? Push it on its side and roll it out, of course! Picking apples with the migrant crews in the late 1960's, keenly eyeballing the beautiful shedded red and black 1947 Dodge farm truck as it came out for its annual duty of hauling the harvest to market. So many stories. No doubt, I will miss David's friendship, his comraderie, his sense of humor. And no matter where David is, may he have skies of porcelain neon and chrome embellishments to gaze on for eternity. https://recompose.life/obituary/david-lewis-webb/ 1
Robert Harrison Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Oh nuts that is sad. I lost track of him but had been trying to find him. I was in the original 39-47 Dodgetruckgroup on Yahoo. David gave me a cab for a 47 truck which I have now have ready for paint for my 47 project. That really sucks. I drove over to Palmeroy (sp?) and visited him. Neat old building he had there we got burgers and drove his cab over. I met him a couple of times at swap meets was hoping to see him again. Bob Harrison.
