check the small wires on the solenoid.  One of them is likely still receiving power once the engine has started.  Trace their routing to make sure they are going where they are supposed to and not being backfed from another circuit.  If it's electrical , removing the small wires should disengage the starter. It could also be mechanically binding.

check to be sure you are not taking the starter soleniod voltage from the same source as your ignition coil.  Have you changed/worked the ignition switch lately?

Really need to check voltage at the small wires as mentioned above.  Could be mis-wired, sticking solenoid or ?   Is the wiring and charging system original?   Any work done in that area recently?

do you have the starter floor button on the floor board or do you have a dedicated starter button on the dash?

If you have the floor stomp style check to see if the return spring on the starter motor yoke is not broken.

So when you push the floor starter button the selinoid that is on the top of the starter motor then gets it power from the battery cable and the yoke then while pressing the starter floor button pushes the  starter into the ring gear. On the yoke near the top of the starter motor there is a spring that when you let go of the starter button permits the starter gear to retract from the ring gear.

Let us know what type of starter setup that you have on your car.
