BayArea48Deluxe Posted April 14 Report Posted April 14 I went crazy today trying a little to hard to remove my oil pan… no success. Read the manual and removed the tranny bell housing, I couldn’t pull the pan off. Any tips? I have a 1948 D-24 230 Flathead 6 any help appreciated Quote
Saskwatch Posted April 14 Report Posted April 14 Use rubber mallet around outer edges of pan with “ convincing “ blows to release its grip . 👍 Quote

Ivan_B Posted April 14 Report Posted April 14 (edited) If 230 are the same with 201, oil pan wise, there isn't any trick to it. Just make sure that you remove all the bolts and it should come out, gently gliding over the steering rod. Edited April 14 by Ivan_B Quote
BayArea48Deluxe Posted Monday at 11:59 PM Author Report Posted Monday at 11:59 PM Right, I don’t think it’s supposed to be as hard as it’s being right now. I considered that the last guy might have went crazy on gasket maker or something… I’ll the putty knife. Kus the surface area over a flat blade driver. I’m sure in l pulled all the bolts. Was when I started flexing my muscles I said I don’t think I’m supposed to be this aggressive… thanks for the reassurance Quote
Noonan Posted Tuesday at 04:19 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 04:19 AM Permatex 'right stuff' is really good product and if that is on there it could be a fight. I've experienced this removing differential covers previously installed with 'right stuff'. Pretty much all I ever use now. 1 Quote
Ivan_B Posted Tuesday at 01:18 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 01:18 PM I prefer the non-hardening #2, in all suitable applications 🙃 Quote
BayArea48Deluxe Posted Tuesday at 03:56 PM Author Report Posted Tuesday at 03:56 PM Yea Ivan that’s what I use NON hardening also only when applicable. Have yet to try Right stuff.. I have the ultra blue as well but that’s RTV.. Quote
