Eneto-55 Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 It is a bit dark inside the car, but it appears that the left rear arm rest has been modified, and the right side (just barely visible) appears to be the stock design. More photos??? Quote
Sam Buchanan Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 That looks like a solid car. Having an intact interior is a huge bonus. Enjoy your new toy! Quote
hi_volt Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 Very nice. We love pictures. Looks like your car has a backup light option. Keep us posted on your progress. Quote
BayArea48Deluxe Posted June 21 Author Report Posted June 21 Yea I can post more photos soon when I get home. I had towed it late at night so yea those are night pictures . So I will get em in better in a few hours. And yes the interior is pretty good. Quote
61spit Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 Great looking car! I like the color and it appears to be in really good condition. Enjoy the project you have and keep us posted as it progresses. Quote

Sniper Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 Battery cables are too small, lol. I see that all the time. Nice start to a good project. Step one, a good cleaning, lol. Speaking of which, I need to clean the kitchen. 1 Quote
BayArea48Deluxe Posted June 21 Author Report Posted June 21 Yes sir indeed. That is the first step gonna hand wash and vacuum tooth brush. Nd yea after the kitchen the latrine also wouldn’t mind a wash 😂 Quote
Sniper Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 Did the latrine yesterday. Maybe, if I am a good boy and I pass inspection I can play with cars this weekend, lol. I do have a few new items for the 51 to review. 1 Quote
BayArea48Deluxe Posted June 21 Author Report Posted June 21 Good luck then sniper if not sneak away and go play for a bit no play makes Johnny a dull boy 1 Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 Looks like you've got a good car to start with! That indeed looks like a really nice interior. Also - (que angels singing while the sun breaks through puffy white clouds) - you have a Custom, as opposed to a Deluxe. The Custom being the higher end model. Trim spears on the rear fenders, and stainless trim around the windows are external giveaways. I forget what that entails otherwise, other than an electric wiper motor and some fancier trim inside. BayArea48Deluxe Posted June 22 Author Report Posted June 22 Thanks Dan.. thank you for letting me know that .. wow puts a little fire under my ass to get working on it fast.. Quote
DonaldSmith Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 Same body as the DeSoto S-11, but butterfly hood, vs DeSoto alligator hood. Quote
junkers72 Posted June 24 Report Posted June 24 I rewired my 47 DeSoto but stayed with 6V pos ground . If I would have been doing a driveline swap or if the heater motor, wiper motor, and other components were toast then may have gone a different route. Proper gauge wire and especially battery cables are key to a happy 6V system. 6V halogen headlight bulbs along with relays make it no problem to be on the road at night Quote
