moparblood Posted December 14, 2023 Report Posted December 14, 2023 the gas pedal broke on my car. pedal fell off to the side. its the cast hinge on floor. boke right below where its bolted on the pedal does anyone remake these? or do I have to custom make one? Quote
TodFitch Posted December 14, 2023 Report Posted December 14, 2023 I am not sure about the 1950 cars but the earlier ones have ball studs on the floorboard and the gas pedal just presses on. Replacement gas pedals are available from the usual old Mopar parts suppliers. Quote
Los_Control Posted December 14, 2023 Report Posted December 14, 2023 I'm not aware of any that used a hinge (cars in this era) As Todd states, is the ball studs that is normal. Mine was in pretty poor condition and should have just replaced it. I had a small 3" hinge and welded it to the pedal then attached the big foot to it. You can cobble something together that works ..... or just buy a new pedal. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted December 14, 2023 Report Posted December 14, 2023 There are 4 small bolts that hold the gas pedal pivot bar bracket to the floor. If the top of the pivot bar rusted out or pulled away from the bracket, you can cut small strips of metal to go over the top of the pivot bar, bend them to be snug, and secure them through the existing bracket holes. D35 Torpedo Posted December 16, 2023 Report Posted December 16, 2023 My 50 dodge has the cast hinge. You might be better off making one. I've seen one other broken off the same. Quote

50 coupe Posted December 19, 2023 Report Posted December 19, 2023 If you trying to do original, good luck on finding parts. I pretty much end up just making stuff. Of course my car is more of a Rat than anything else. LOL Quote
