OUTFXD Posted May 14, 2023 Report Posted May 14, 2023 I saw a posting for this. Specifically a #63 Extrabright Microscope Lightbulb. I "think" it was Sam Buchanans post. I followed the link and , surprise surprise, the store is closed. The luck of my usual attempts at Google-fu , My searches found nothing related. Though I did find a nice source for 1963 Plymouth dash light bulbs. Anyone got a link for someone who sells these? Also the post stated there was a way to change the color of dash lights, Is that a thing or just a joke? Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted May 14, 2023 Report Posted May 14, 2023 I found a lot 6v bulbs, including for the dash, at YnZ Yesterday's Parts; ynzyesterdaysparts.com. They had some obscure ones I needed for our Terraplane, too. 1 Quote

OUTFXD Posted May 14, 2023 Author Report Posted May 14, 2023 Hmmm. I can put them in my cart. Go to purchase. When I try to pay for them I get forwarded to a separate page that says "The Sellers store is closed for Vacation" Not sure what to make of it, sounds suspiciously like "Mr Smith is Unavailable" or some other copy/paste corporate script phrase. I put it on my watch list and hope that the owner will come back. Thanks for all the help! Quote

Good to be cautious but the seller has 99% positive feedback and if you follow the link to their store you get a vacation message right at the top. Seems legit. 1 Quote
Sniper Posted May 14, 2023 Report Posted May 14, 2023 Or you could save a bunch of money by running an 81 bulb vice a 63. 70 lumens vs 38. 81 bulb is 61 cents each at Rockauto 1 Quote

You are referencing the phillips 81cp right? Joe Lee Quote
Sniper Posted May 15, 2023 Report Posted May 15, 2023 I looked up the specs on a 63 an 81 bulb, those are the lumens that were listed. I am not referencing any specific bulb, the bulb numbers are universal and all manufacturer's that make that specific bulb are supposed to adhere to those specification. 1 Quote
Bryan G Posted May 16, 2023 Report Posted May 16, 2023 Just remember that a brighter bulb will run hotter. Not always an issue, but could be if around plastic. 1 Quote
Sam Buchanan Posted May 16, 2023 Report Posted May 16, 2023 I can’t recall the details of the gauge bulb sockets but wonder if the larger envelope of the 81’s would be a problem. Also, the 63’s are plenty bright, anything brighter would probably need a dimmer. Quote
