New Radio...old truck

Love my 53, cannot find the 'appropriate radio.' After much searching, I may knuckle under and rig up a new radio/speakers. Any ideas from the board would be a big help. Thanks in advance.

Is your truck still wired for 6 volt? If so ,a Mopar #812 form a 51-52 Plymouth might fit right in the factory hole. My 52 didn't come with the factory cut out so I haven't been able to confirm this. It sure looks close.

I rewired for 12 volt.

There is space/cavity under the seat. If I give-up on finding a 6v radio (form the 50's) I will install it there, with the face pointing forward out of obvious sight. Will probably have to set volume and channel before I drive off, or get a remote and CD player.

But a bonus is I now know to look for a Mopar #812, were these also installed in the Kingsways? (I dont think we got many Plymouths out here)

Out in my garage I also found two more Mopar radios that are the same size and similar style as the #812. There's a #606 and a #813 so there's probably lots of others around too that would fit in the factory cutout.

There's just only 1 610T on the face of the planet I guess.

Jim, I have a Mopar model 822 radio that was mounted under dash in my B3C. I'm sure it needs some love in the tube department, but the price is right. You could have it for shipping costs. I think it's for 6 volt but not 100 percent sure of that. I could send you a picture if you'd like. Dave

Who's got a picture of the radio you guys are looking for? I've got 51-52 radios here. Also believe they are the same guts as 53-54 car radios.

In the old days when we converted to 12V we just changed the vibrator and all of the tubes to the 12V equivalent.
