Have you gotten ahold of Bob?  Would he be willing to send the files?  I know a lot of the files that are downloads (manual pages) will not/are not available on wayback.

Posted

I just sent him an email but I don't think it will work because the email uses the old domain name.

FWIW, I went to the wayback site earlier. Spent sometime trying to learn & navigate. I think I finally was getting somewhere .... every time I clicked on a .pdf I got a error  "oops we did not archive that file"  I did not find anything to save.

I dunno maybe I was doing it wrong .... or @ggdad1951is correct .... I do not have a account there & had option to log in .....would that make a difference?

Bob replied to my message and told me that the domain is paid up into next year so the site should be up and running. He’s going to dig into why it’s not. He’s also going to send me info on how to access the files, once it’s up and running again, so that we can save them to the forum site.

These are three files I have source?

Either HERE or DPETCA

(Three Posts)

(I had to split one of the PDFs into three sections)

Pilothouse Harness Diagrams.pdf 23.9 kB · 3 downloads B2_schematics.pdf 352.12 kB · 1 download B1_series_wiring_details 1.pdf 2.34 MB · 1 download

Yes! These are the ones I was looking for. Thanks!

Odd things happen cyberspace,  I had a website I ran for a tailgating beer game that was paid up for a year and somehow the web address got linked to a japanese soft core porn site.

Kinda looks like this is not the 1st time that the site has gone down...

I never got around to joining DPETCA for a variety of reasons before Bob idled the site activity.  He set up a FB page that is kinda active but IMHO it is populated with way too many obnoxious rat rodders and whiny SBC enthusiasts.  Bob has not been active on here in years, and the last time we conversed awhile back, he lamented having a very full plate.

I have wanted to support the DPETCA online database presence since I finally got around to setting up a profile here, that way my annual donation could help go towards maintenance and support.  I was hoping that this site could mirror the DPETCA site, but I reckon there are technical issues that may preclude that.

I could set it up to present all the content in a Pilothouse section. I just need the source files and images.

That would be awesome. I use the resources on that site regularly.
Merle, have you heard anymore on the status of getting the old site back up? Without the site up, my guess is there is no easy way to retrieve the data.

It's been almost 6 months and the site is still down.  I tried to reach out to Bob on the FB page a few days ago but have not received a response.  Has anyone else heard any updates on the site status?

Perhaps we can make this a community project. First we have plenty of storage available at p15-d24 to store all the DPETCA content online in the Downloads section.

Next if individual members can volunteer to download a couple articles from the Wayback Machine, post a list of which ones they have downloaded (so we don't get a bunch of duplicates) and then upload to the Downloads section we may be able save most of the content.

Anybody willing to volunteer?

PM sent

JB,  try a couple and report back, when I last looked the wayback "showed" files being there, but there was no content of the ones I looked at (I think it was specifically the manuals).

I've created a new "club" for the DPETCA material. Access is through the Browse -> Clubs header menu. You need to "join the club" for full access (it's free.)

I need a moderator or two who would be willing to add the old DPETCA content. Maybe split it up between a couple members so it's not such a large job. Also if anyone has a copy of the DPETCA logo, please forward me a copy so I can add it to the club banner. It may take a couple tries to get all the management privs set so you patience is appreciated. This way all the DPETCA information is saved and organized in one central location.

GT is there a file size limit in adding files in the club?  I see the max size in adding files on a forum post is 3 MB, but I did not see one in the club section.

PM me as to what you think would work good. I don't know how big the files are from DPETCA.

If there were scans of shop manuals, etc, I would guess 50 - 100 mb at least per file, depending on quality....

I recall seeing the parts manual on the  DPETCA site and tried to find the information on way back, but, as previously reported, a lot of the pdf files don’t appear to be available. Does any one know where they might be found? Specifically, I was looking for the body/sheet metal pages and diagrams.

I was able to get the DPETCA files but have run into a technical issue in getting them onto this site...it's a work in progress
