John Snyder
I'm brand new here. here's likely a thread on this but it didn't pop up. My truck runs great at 25-30 mph but seems to have an advance problem as it coughs and sputters on the highway. Can I just loosen the distributor and move it like my '65 volks? It seems almost seized up and I was afraid to force it in case that's not what is needed. Thanks for any help! John
kencombs
You can, but that is not likely to be the source of the coughing and sputtering. Normally, those symptoms are associated with either fuel delivery or an intermittent ignition problem.
JBNeal
Might not hurt to look at the mechanical advance to see if it's frozen up or malfunctioning.
