Does anyone know where exactly the chassis or frame number is located on a 1946-48 Chrysler New Yorker?...........thanks.....andyd

Can’t answer on a Chrysler, but this is where it’s located on a 41 Plymouth.

Unfortunately no new project........just thought I'd try to help a mate here in Oz who is doing up a 48 Chrysler.............I'd love to know the reasoning that was used for putting the number on that part of the frame, instead of an easily found and seen spot in the engine bay area.........strange........lol.

The chassis numbers were probably located in out-of-the-way places so law enforcement could identify stolen vehicles if the need arose.  The chassis number was also the only place on the car that tied the engine number to the rest of the vehicle.
