48ply1stcar Posted May 18, 2022 Report Share Posted May 18, 2022 (edited) The clicking sound was get louder so I removed the fan and discovered that the pully was lose but the nut was still firm. Should I be able to tighten this down. also a few years ago I replaced my 218 with a 230 and am using a narrow belt I was thinking of using the pully from the 12 volt generator. I had the 230 rebuilt and transferred everything from the 218 block to the 230 block. Plymouthy Adams Posted May 18, 2022 Report Share Posted May 18, 2022 check your alignment pulley to water pump and determine if you need a shim on the inside between collar and pulley or outside between pulley and nut to eliminate any slack....GIVEN the hole of the pully is not buggered to the point of excess play on the pulley to shaft contact points.
