Marty C Posted December 22, 2021 Report Posted December 22, 2021 I would like some info on what is needed besides an engine hoist to pull a stripped engine block out of a Dodge Coronet! ive heard the transmission has to be removed first! Is this true? im doing this out in the street with a few friends. what am I in for? Quote
Bryan Posted December 22, 2021 Report Posted December 22, 2021 On my 1948 Dodge it looked like I needed to remove the transmission. It had a hump at top and bottom that kept it from coming thru the cross member. On your 52 do not know but probably someone here knows. If you remove the transmission best to have a transmission jack. Too heavy to lower by hand. Leveler probably helps. Assuming you have it up on jack stands? https://p15-d24.com/topic/56535-long-term-pulling-motor-on-1948-dodge/?do=findComment&comment=611909 Quote
Doug&Deb Posted December 22, 2021 Report Posted December 22, 2021 The trans must be removed first. Be careful with the fluid coupling when pulling the trans. A hoist with a leveler will work. If you can remove the front clip it would be easier but removing the hood and radiator will be sufficient. Doing it on the street isn’t fun. Been there done that. Quote
Marty C Posted December 23, 2021 Author Report Posted December 23, 2021 Oh boy that doesn’t sound fun! Thanks for the info Quote
