Jeff H Posted October 10, 2021 Report Posted October 10, 2021 First let me apologize if I am doing this incorrectly. Here is my issue..... 1950 Dodge B2B is leaking oil that appears to be coming from behind the distributor cap. Is there a gasket or o ring that I may be missing or do I have other problems? Any help or input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ! Jeff Quote
ggdad1951 Posted October 10, 2021 Report Posted October 10, 2021 Yes there should be a seal behind that. Quote
Jeff H Posted October 10, 2021 Author Report Posted October 10, 2021 Thank you for the help. Can you point me in the direction of where I might get a seal? Quote
greg g Posted October 10, 2021 Report Posted October 10, 2021 Take a look at your plumbing for the oil filter. May feed line was cracked under the flange nut. Made a mess of left side of the engine and firewall. Quote
Jeff H Posted October 10, 2021 Author Report Posted October 10, 2021 I thought they may have been the issue at first. But I can see the oil running down from the distributor. Just need to find where I can get a seal. Suggestions?? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted October 10, 2021 Report Posted October 10, 2021 The original seal was a cork O-ring... You can use a rubber O-ring of the correct OD and ID. Measure the OD of the distributor base housing shaft and block bore diameter. Then find a supplier or parts store with knowledgable sales staff to help you. Quote
Jeff H Posted October 10, 2021 Author Report Posted October 10, 2021 Okay. Thank you very much. Really appreciate it. Jeff Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted October 11, 2021 Report Posted October 11, 2021 An original compressed distributor cork seal ring after being installed ... 1 Quote
Jeff H Posted October 11, 2021 Author Report Posted October 11, 2021 Okay. Thank you. That gives me a good idea as to what I need to find or make. I really appreciate the feedback. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted October 11, 2021 Report Posted October 11, 2021 Best bet is to call VPW and/or DCM. 1 Quote
