What is a fair price to ask for a complete 230 CID flat six motor with clutch / bell housing, 4 speed transmission , and integral parking brake ? I have to list and sell it and don't know what it's worth. The # on the block is TI42*II0405*. I'd be most grateful for any experienced input before I list it.

Key questions on value

Does it run?

What are the compression numbers?

Does it smoke?

Does it exhibit symptoms of blow by?

How bad does some one need it?

How bad do you want it gone?

15 years ago, I bought a 56 230 that I was told ran when pulled.  I got it for 175.00 complete from water pump to e brake. Carb to oil pan.

I knew I was going to rebuild it.  My target was no more than 250.00.

As for the 218 that it replaced, it still sits in the garage.  I would probably let it go for 100.00 picked up here. It ran when pulled, compression was from 90 to 110 and it blew smoke on deceleration and long down hills.

I like used engines for spare parts. Starter, generator, carb, distributor, exhaust manifold, parking brake band, trans, etc. Blocks are bring $150 for scrap right now around here if no good.
