What is local law enforcement going to think about an Iowa plate on the front of a Minnesota registered vehicle?

They never look at any of my cars.  But we shall see if they notice this time! ?

To work this morning with the American.  Full moon night cruise with the kids later on.  Just got back from that...10:30pm.  The generator light came on and stayed on during the the ride.  I just slapped my multimeter on it; looks like I'll be taking it off tomorrow after work.

They can't see both ends at the same time. We've gotten away with running a yom plate on the front and the actual plate on the rear for decades

And depending on where you live many times Police let stuff like that go because you have an accurate plate on the car.

The connections on the generator were filthy and corroded. I cleaned them up but to no avail, the generator still wasn't working so I took it out. I'll take it to a local shop tomorrow for testing and a rebuild.

should have tested it prior to removal...could be a bad wire, bad regulator...poor ground.....

I did test it with my multimeter.  I think I did it correctly.  It's not something I'm too familiar with.

Picked up the generator after work then reinstalled it.  The brushes were bad (worn and short) and the guts needed cleaning.  Works perfectly now.  I was lucky in removing it and unknowingly overlooking other things that could have been wrong.  Tells you how much I know.  The damn thing was a bear to get back in.  Learned some new swear word combinations.

Went out cruising with the kids to give it a good test run. No problems. We ran for about an hour and a half on the highway, and stop for snacks of course. ?

Out again with the American following an afternoon at Hidden Trails pumpkin farm near West Salem, WI.  Good times there with the corn maze, playground for the kids, and pumpkins, gourds, squash, and mums.

Stopped for snacks like we usually do.  Another 1 1/2 hr drive.  The American didn't miss a beat.   Had the heater on most of the time.  Generator working great.  Clear skies and low 50s.

3 pics are before we left, the other is on the highway near Rollingstone, MN right before heading uphill on county road 25.  It's dark, winding and scary, but fun ?

I guess if it were mine, I think since it is so straight, I would be thinking of putting some color on it.  I know original patina is a thing but the period  two tones and colors were too cool not to do.

 But that's just me.image.png.e9534ed7c1b03ea922934f8f6220c049.png

that is not patina...that is called rust..I am with Greg...the car deserves putting the rust in check and preserving.....patina look is just a fad invented by folks too lazy and cheap to do the job right.....

That would be me!?

Out for an in-town cruise with the kids.  Couldn't resist since it was so nice out.  60F and perfect.  Stopped at this incredibly decorated Halloween themed yard.  Life size skeleton horses (and riders), and the dragon breathed real flames.  I'd have tuned in but I unhooked the radio in the American.

Totally agree. I like the colours of the pictured car but green or blue two-tone would look just as nice. Rust patina just eats a decent car.

Lots of good car use there Worden. Glad to see the old American getting driven often.

You have the American, Plymouth Cranbrook, and Dodge truck still?  I'd be struggling about where to put my time. Which car? I already do that now, with only 2 cars.  I have big plans to put some solid time into reassembling my Plymouth engine tomorrow. I know what'll happen. 4 hours in, I'll be flashing up my Chrysler for a cruise. Gotta use up the last 4 weeks of snow free driving while I can. I can work in the garage on the engine reassembly all winter! Have fun today, work later! Lol.

10-3:

Local Elks Lodge show today.  All proceeds went to this country's Veterans.  Spaghetti dinner and the fun and famous "pumpkin drop" from 145ft via a crane.  Two 150lb pumpkins were the finale!

I talked to one gentleman who wanted to know everything about the Rambler, and he wanted to buy it as well.  I had to let him down gently ?
