Question,

Has anyone tried one of this type add on assists for stock builds for a vacuum wiper assist  .

Unfortunately these only came on newer cars that where 12 V.

A friend with a 37 Plymouth asked (vac. wiper-very stock with later flat 6, recently changed by owner and son to 12 V.)) and also a friend with a Chev. V-8 with big cam was also looking for brake assistance (big cam). Don't need to help him here but? Why not, loves old cars and had 49 and 50 ply. bus. cpes until he realized he had more cars than he could Ever finish. (last purchased, sold).

Another possibilty is an alternator driven vacuum pump.  They were used on some light duty diesel trucks.  I have one off of a Mitsubishi .  If planning a 12v conversion, replacing or converting to an alternator they would be a good alternative to an added motor and pump,,

If you are going to all this trouble, why not just change to electronic wipers. I prefer the vacuum ones, so I'm removing the electric conversion the last owner did and putting my rebuilt vacuum motors back in. But if you are going to the trouble to add a vacuum assist...why not just electric conversion?
