pflaming
A friends amp gauge constantly flickers +- - . And he has a small park when battery cable is attached. The spark means something is grounde, awireor??? Yet the engine starts and runs and all else works. So what can cause that gauge to flicker? busycoupe
My gauge did this until I replaced the voltage regulator. All has been well since then. Listen to the regulator, you may be able to heat it click.
Sam Buchanan
Yep, my regulator was doing that before it died. The replacement one-wire alternator has been flawless. ?
Sniper
Regulator probably needs adjustment. The regulator essentially turns the generator on or off and if it's constantly flickering the ammeter then it's likely out of adjustment. As for the spark, all that probably means is that something is drawing power not that you have a short. Is there something on his vehicle that has, or uses, power even with the key off? That is probably it if so.
