Oil Bath on a 218

I'm looking to get away from my oil bath air cleaner and use a paper type, but use the stock air cleaner housing . What do I need to cut out of the housing and what air cleaner element fits in the housing? I thought I would ask before I mess up a good housing. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dave

Fair enough.  Sometimes the search feature doesn't work real well.  It's hard to know what search phrase or word to use, and partly also due to terminology changes over the years.  (For example, in the older repair manuals, what we now generally call the firewall is called the dash still using the terms used on horse-drawn carriages.)

Here are a few hits I got with a search on the word 'bath':

Some are discussions about dual carbs, and what air filters will work, how the oil bath works, etc.  I know that somewhere here there is a lengthy discussion/'argument' about the relative value of the oilbath vs the modern paper filters, but I didn't find it, either.  There was a recent program update, and some features may not be fully functional yet.  Another issue is that when a person starts a new topic, it makes it much easier to find later if a number of descriptive "tags" are entered at the time of the thread creation.  (Like in the example I gave above, if talking about the rubber grommets that mount to the firewall where the wiring harness & such like goes through, using the original term that includes the word 'dash' and also the common term 'firewall' will make it easier to bring it up in a search.  Hopefully, at least.)

You know I tried that and everything I opened said file not found. so after six hours last night reading file not found, who cares. thanks for the help.

Most native forum searches are less than satisfactory.  But you can use Google as the search engine and specify the site you want to search.  Much better.
