Long story:

Approximately 12 years ago I had all bumpers, etc chromed.

I peeked at a few pieces, kept them wrapped up. And put away.

Till today, I laid out all the front parts, including this grille guard.

Now it's been close to 40 years since I disassembled this D24, so when I couldn't make heads or tails out of attaching it, I just figured that I had lost some brackets.

Some of you remember NU Chrome in Massachusetts.

They did a good job on my parts, but when they closed up a few years ago they screwed lots of people out if money and/or parts.

Seems they got me after all,  and somebody else that should have this one.

No idea what car its for but not wide enough for the D24.

Hope I can find another one some day.

Clay: I use the same window channel clips on my 39 Desoto.

It is looking soooooo nice. Just take your time and then one day you will realize it is all done.

Do you plan to have it judged at an AACA show?  If completely done at the first show then you can get your first Junior and then have to wait until the next AACA show to go for the AACA Senior Award  and then just drive the hell out of the car.

Hey clay:  I am at Hershey and I can not find you any Where. The weather is just so perfect no rain at all.  i have been looking for you all day but I have not seen you and there is no one here. I thought I would beable to spot you very quickly on the parking lots.

What a shame that they cancelled Hershey with this perfect weather.

Could it possibly hold the bracket for the "optional or aftermarket" light bracket for the bulb??

Just guessing. If not even close, ignore response without prejudice!  ?

You sure it's from your D24?  I don't recognize it at all.  Doesn't mean it didn't come off a D24, but ours doesn't have a stud like that anywhere that I remember, and it's mostly original.  Curiosity aroused, now I gotta go out and look...

I can't find anything like that forward of the firewall.  It could conceivably have been used to mount the hood ornament, judging from the hardware used to mount it, but it would not have been original.

Busy Sunday.

I had my the original firewall pad reproduced by REM AUTO PARTS in PA several years ago.

They used a generic gray vinyl.   I spray painted it with special paint fir thus application.

It'll match new kick panels I have.

Nice work, looking good.  Our D24 is a southwest car, sold new in Carlsbad, NM.  I'm always a tad surprised at what it doesn't have compared to a lot of the D24s you'uns on the Forum have.  Which I tend to attribute to where it was delivered (hot, dry climate, and frugal ranching clientele) .  Such as the all-weather fresh air package on yours.  My cowl intake vents straight down into the car, my feet would get wet if I drove in the rain with it open.  Another accessory to keep an eye out for.

Dan,

Yes, the "options" are funny compared to what we are used to.

My D24 was sold in White Plains NY, ended up with a friend of mine around 1975 in New Haven CT.

One , passenger side heater.  I found the fresh air package used and cleaned it up.  A NOS Driver side heater will go in soon.   Fun collecting these extra things over the years while I waited on the engine and body work.

I suppose it was practical not to put full heat in the NM cars at the factory, LOL !
