Door Lock Question

Dont know about a 50 Desoto but my 39 Plymouth had a hole in the edge of the door where a screw was threaded down onto the lock cylinder to hold it in place. If thats the case for yours be careful. After a day of trying to get it out I ended up drilling and re-tapping.

For the S-13 and S-14 models, there is a "latch pate" in the edge of the door.  Look for a slot just next to the weatherstripping.  The manual says to bend a screwdriver end to 90 degrees, for pulling the latch plate toward the edge of the door, releasing the cylinder.

Installation of the cylinder requires pushing a long pilot needle through the trim panel, to guide the lock shaft through the opening.  (The shop manual helps make this clear.)
