Not a pilothouse.....but man am I happy.

As most of you know I have been searching for a pilothouse on and off for a few years now. I found something incredible instead....to me anyway.

A 1979 bone stock, 68,000 mile D150 long bed truck, I will be the second owner the second week of March. All trim is there, not dented....the grille and rear bumper are mint...stock full cover hubcaps and the interior is good, not torn up and nobody butchered the dash. It has a 318 2 bbl/727 torque flite. All original glass and seals.

Do you know what changes I am going to do to it when I get it?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING except routine maintenance.......

Some things never change, Dodge always had the ugly face only a mother can love.

My 1949 or your 1979, ugly as sin.

Boy they sure are good trucks though, congratz on your rare low mile find.

Thank you.....but I will never share your opinion on their looks.

VRRRY NICE...

that D-series may have a few things to look at given its age:  ignition modules can fail suddenly but are easy to swap out; there have been issues with the amp gauge getting smoky because of a dash wiring issue; and them brakes might be sticking and ya might not know it...

I saw a Palomino once, very similar color scheme, awfully nice looking but its motor was a basket case...seller wanted top blue book value even though the tailpipe qualified as a neighborhood DDT fogging device...

enjoy the ride

Thanks JB, this is my 7th 1972-1985 Dodge truck in 40 years, I know most of the ins and outs but will still look closely at you items you have mentioned! Most have been an electrical nightmare..........this truck has never had a wire cut, spliced or added to the harness in its life.

I have come behind a few people working electrical issues...it amazes me how a car/truck can work for 30+  years and all of a sudden when they get the vehicle, all the wires need cutting to fix it and yet nothing ever works again and they are perplexed at how bad the pristine looking wiring harness was when they got it....neighbor came up here the other day, he is notorious for such actions...he described a new problem, being a GM I told him this fix will be the only time he will ever be instructed to cut a wire to make a fix...the fusible link was burnt.

Nice truck!

Watch that timing chain...oh and cluster circuit board...

Used to replace a lot of those.

The engines rear end and trans with good care....will easily last 250,000 miles.

Have fun with it?

Stupid nylon gear teeth.......grrrrrrrr they jump timing so easy, and they like to shear off.
