Barn find 1953 Plymouth update

Recommended Posts

Made some progress by installing Ford ranger rear end, drive shaft, muffler system, partial wiring, and the engine and trans.. I know the die hard Mopar guys will be upset on my engine choice but Im not building it for them.. If this offends the moderators, please remove thread.. I also have pics of the engine install and frame modifications if anyone is interested...100_4313.JPG.9f909ed8c1357fee3440ea902976c53d.JPG

Car is a 26,000 mile barn find.. Not a die hard Mopar fan, however I do like early Mopars 30's  thru 50s.. I couldn't pass this one up with such low mileage.. As most of you already know it's a sbc(sorry)100_4262.JPG.bef965e7a78122052119006a98cd442e.JPG.. I'm keeping the original steering and suspension, just cutting the coils a little to lower the front...

I don't remember ever seeing this year/model when growing up.  I can remember lots of 50 and 51's and 56 to 59's.

Go with the Aerostar springs.  Cheap and readily available, they'll bring the front down an inch or two, and give you a firmer ride.

I just made a straight box tubing trans mount.. No pics.. The good thing about the motor mounts are the engine mount part  has 4 holes that can be trim to what you need.. I offset the engine about 3/4 inch to passenger side...

Absolutely love it! You'll have some Mopar "experts" scratching their heads and others a bit more focused, absolutely irritated at the violation of the car if not the valve covers.

Please show us more.

Thanks mrwrstory.. Don't have much more to show except how nice the interior is on this 26,000 mile coupe.. I did find a 54 automatic column indicator for my 3 spd column.. The paint isn't even wore off the steering wheel....100_4252.JPG.abab5f4b0f0ff4895ed5ad5e83bbf679.JPG
