Eneto-55
FureyLee, Thanks. That explains why I can't find the dipstick tube - because there isn't any. (I tore that blown engine down back in 81 or 82, and my memory has suffered since then....)

I think I have a tube on my 41 (both 201 engines), but it’s not easily accessible at the moment.
JSabah
Just happened across this in the shop manual. It should shed some light on lengths, handle styles and markings
Eneto-55
So, for those who need to find a dipstick that will give an accurate reading, the measurements taken from either of the two styles on the left in J Sabah's photo will give the correct distances from the top of the hole in the block. Add the length of the tube you are using, and that will provide what is needed. (I have one of the late P15 dipsticks, but I didn't copy down the over-all length, only the measurements from the tip up to the markings. If someone still needs that, I can get it tomorrow.) BobT-47P15
That picture of 3 different dipsticks seems correct. The short one indeed has no tube.
