Rockauto is good for brand and part numbers. Post a picture of your engine and car. It could make a difference on what you need, without assuming.

Hi

this what I used in my 1951 canadian Dodge D-40 (230c.i.)  my housing is a flat piece and a pipe also ,  it has the housing with no by-pass. the by-pass is in the head..so I used one of those stat.

A thermostat

GATES 33038S

180 Degree; Premium

Superstat Thermostat; 180 Degree

they are from Rock Auto, in the premium section and any a good brand gasket.

those stats fit so many vehicles wow.

the bypass is not part of the thermostat or its housing on Dodge after 1950.  any Chrysler product 6 except the Spitfire series uses a conventional thermostat,

Seems to me one from a 318 should work.

hi,, how about, in the engine conpartement,, the heater door lever on the heater box, where the cold/hot control cable from the inside the cab meets. on the heater box it should said ''hot ''or ''cold''  . that should match the control inside,, make sure it's at ''HOT'',  if you have no heat stilll, maybe the door is broke,,

Or from the heater core, a hose which connects, most of the time,,  to the valve at the back of the cylinder head,  the valve could be close  or clog..
