Auto-Lite Horn Adjustment D-24

Still tweaking parts ahead of assembly .

Dual Horns - Auto-Lite HT 4007 and HT 4008 all cleaned, painted , and adjusted.

No sound after 30+ years of sitting, and 40+ years of use prior to that.

Fine file, and emery cloth on contacts.

Then followed service manual instructions, turning adjt screw slightly till sound is steady.

Easy task if you don't drop and loose any of the tiny pieces !

Clay,  Rich Hartung, It is a very very fine adjustment with the screw. It take time and a lot of small in and out turns. I had the same issue on my 39 Desoto but I finally got them both to work.  This is a great winter project since you can do this type of work in the house so long as the wife and or kids do not mind the sound of the horn going off and on.

What I have found is that your supplied voltage may differ on the work bench compared to the voltage available under the hood of your car . So it may need further adjustment after installation .

Same here. Got the ones on my coupe working great off battery charger power only to find them dead again on install.
