jumpinjack
I have a 1948 DeSota Custom and was too it had a 265 cu in flat head. I can't find that they ever came with that size. It does have a 25" head and serial number on the engine starts with S11. What year would this be from . Thanks
Plymouthy Adams
S11 is correct for 46-48 DeSoto...the 265 however is not, the engine should displace 236.6 CI Edited June 30, 2019 by Plymouthy Adams
jumpinjack
Thats what I thought, but, it does have a 25" head . Does that not mean it is possibly larger than the stock 236?
Plymouthy Adams
no
kencombs
several 25" head engine sizes were made. They differ in bore and stroke but are externally the same.
Solution Plymouthy Adams Posted July 1, 2019 Solution Report Share Posted July 1, 2019 well I said no....I need to go further... it can be other but it will be based on what a previous owner may have done to the internals of your stock engine and may have taken it to a 251 CI engine...….thus it is ALWAYS important with any of these engines to verify the stroke before saying you have this or that..... jumpinjack
Thanks, I guess Ill have to measure the stroke.
Plymouthy Adams
there is a plug at #6 that you remove and allows for checking stroke
