modracr41
Guys, I'm looking to swap a mid-60's B-body 8 3/4 rear into my '48 Club coupe and was wondering about leaf springs. Can I use later model leafs so that the pads on the 8 3/4 are the correct width, or do I need to use stock size springs, and weld the narrower pads onto the 8 3/4? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
Plymouthy Adams
unless you wish to build and mount front hangers and use off set shackles at the rear based on the width of the frame section.....pick up a set of proper size perches and weld them in place....even the closet match axle is still off a bit on perch width...welding on new perches is a quick and easy job...unless you happen to have a 8 3/4 laying around....the initial cost for these have gone up and up....the 8 1/4 is a very good go to axle...
