42halfton Posted June 15, 2019 Report Posted June 15, 2019 Hi, ive recently bought a 1942 1/2 ton civilian truck - im not sure on the model but I think its a WC? Although when I google WC, military vehicles come up? These seem rare, here in the UK. Im not sure whether the engine is a 218 or 230 so that is a job for me, to do to determine what it is initially. The engine is seized so its soaking in acetone and ATF at the moment, im asking for advice on where to get spares (I will have to get them from the US and get them shipped). I would also like to hop the engine up, are there parts available to do this and also what works and what doesn't with them, bigger valves, camshaft etc... I know people who bring containers in from the US so providing I am organised and don't mind waiting the shipping wont be too expensive. Alternatively if anyone has a known good engine they want to sell let me know. Look forward to any response. Quote
B1B Keven Posted June 15, 2019 Report Posted June 15, 2019 Welcome! On the drivers side ( your passenger) of the head, above the generator should be a flat spot with a number stamped into it. You can look it up here: http://www.t137.com/registry/help/otherengines/otherengines.php Parts sources: https://www.vicsdodgegarage.com/index.html https://dcmclassics.com/ Where in in England? I've got a friend near Chichester. 1 Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted June 15, 2019 Report Posted June 15, 2019 Welcome to the group. Roberts Motor Parts is a good source. They helped me quite a bit with the things I needed. Jeff 1 Quote

Ive just found the engine number and it is TII2, (the 11 looks more like the capital letters ii though) so looks like it could be a 201 or 218. I was hoping it would be a 230. Im only about an hour from Chichester, near a place called Lewes Edited June 15, 2019 by 42halfton Quote

tanda62 Posted June 16, 2019 Report Posted June 16, 2019 While I don't have any direct experience with these people, here are a couple of places to check out for performance parts. http://www.langdonsstovebolt.com/ http://www.moparmontana.com/ 1 Quote
