1957 D-100 temp gauge/sensor

My gauge was working before I pulled the motor out, now I can't recall how it was hooked up. Would anyone be able to tell me where the sensor is? I tried search online before and gave up on it. Thanks.

If it's a 315 V8 it's showing on this photo of my Sweptside just behind the throttle return spring.

Should be at the driver's side, rear, corner of the head. Just behind your oil filter.

Thank you. So its on the vertical part of the head? There is an unconnected wire that I suspect is for the probe.

Is your gauge mechanical or electrical?

I'm almost 100% certain its electrical but have not looked at it since last year. I do not recall a sensor in the head like yours but will need to check this evening.

That is indeed where its at. I couldn't see it with the oil filter and wires. Now I'll just have to figure out where the wire is for it. Many thanks, not sure I would have spotted it with all the stuff in the way as I've looked before.
