Hickory Posted July 30, 2018 Author Report Posted July 30, 2018 And a mishap on Saturday morning, it felt like the tire was coming loose after cranking on the binders when a fed-ex tractor trailer pulled out in front of me. Quote
Hickory Posted July 30, 2018 Author Report Posted July 30, 2018 But when I pulled over and the tire fell off. I was shocked to what I found. Quote
Hickory Posted July 30, 2018 Author Report Posted July 30, 2018 Even more shocking is I found a junk yard open down the road with a new 56 Chrysler Newport rim on the shelf. Still made it to the Nationals before lunch. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted July 30, 2018 Report Posted July 30, 2018 You had to be doing burn outs to cause all that!? Quote
Hickory Posted July 30, 2018 Author Report Posted July 30, 2018 Right front. The wife thought I drove into the ditch when the wheel came off. Really the ditch.....lol. lug nuts where tight I guess heavy braking and 70 yr old steel, I don't know Quote
Dartgame Posted July 30, 2018 Report Posted July 30, 2018 Holy crap is that scary. I never planned on using the oem wheels on my car, but not for this reason.... Quote
Adam H P15 D30 Posted July 30, 2018 Report Posted July 30, 2018 It happens with these old thin wheels. I heard once radial tires go on, the flexing gets worse. My 49 wheels did this 6 months after radial tires went on. It was only paint but it shows the flexing, newer wheels were much thicker.... Quote
