I find it interesting you going with newer engine and later modern A500 and not up-grading the rear gearing, especially upgrading the rear brakes.....placing a brake setup on the end of the A500 may be quite the task, have you instead looked at the e-brake for the input to the third member?  All in all for cost and simplicity and with respect to even easier future maintenance, I would suggest a modern rear axle.   The e-brake then would be a simple cable connecting...

Thank you for. Your response . I’ve been posting on this awhile and have stated in previous posts that I had changed to a 99 Cherokee 3:55 rear . I like the third member e brake idea.
