Don Coatney
Here is an idea. You can either use it or not use it. The choice is yours.
Jerry B
Yea thanks don, I got that part. The question is, is this something that is worth saving? I don't see many NOS Fenton heads. how many do you have?
greg g
As in new in the box, investment, rather than a part of a mobile transportation device? Or as a pattern to cast your new line of replica heads? You might want to test its integrity, many of these after market pieces suffered from porous castings. Not a problem when you could go back to the corner speed shop for an exchange, but since most of the makers are out of business, having a dodgey one kind of reduces it to wall art. To test cover all the water passage holes with a double layer of duct tape. Put some food color in about a halve cup is water. Pour the colored water in the heater port. Take your blow gun for your compressor and fashion a seal on the blow gun, again duct tape can work. Put the blow gun in the heater port, and pressurize the head passages to about 10/15 PSL. Look and listen for leaks in between the fines or into the combustion chamber areas. If its not leaking, then you can choose to use it, or sell it knowing it is a viable part. For what Edgy is selling his new ones for, you know what the market will bear for real vintage stuff.
