Allen I. Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 I have Bunn's book somewhere but I can't find it. Quote
Tony_Urwin Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 I believe that would be the B2C-126. Quote
townwagon Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 The B2C only came as a 116" Wheel Base. In 1950 only the 1 ton got a 9' bed, which would have been a B-2-D-126. Eric Quote
Tony_Urwin Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Oops, he's right. I can find pictures of the B2D-126, but no B2C-126. Looks like half-tons were 108 or 116, three-quarter ton were all 116, and one ton were availabel as 116 or 126. Quote
Allen I. Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Posted August 9, 2007 Thanks. I could find no B2C 126s either. I was wondering because there might be a 9 foot bed in a barn about an hour away from me. I was wondering if it was a matter of a longer wheelbase or simply a longer bed. Rats!!! Still debating between the ol' stake bed I have and a pickup bed. I do have the luxury of storage space for now to have both but that is not forever and the more crap I store, the more I have to deal with if the storage goes away. Quote
Tony_Urwin Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 The 9 foot boxsides are longer between the front panel and the wheels. So I don't think you can make it work unless you break out the shears and the welder. I narrowed my stakebed by 10", since I am using it as a daily driver (when it's not too hot anyway). Improves visibility and makes parallel parking a little easier. As a result, I have this engraved rail that is too long for my new bed. Used to fit below the rear window. Anyone interested? It's available for the cost of shipping and handling! Quote
Young Ed Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I take it that that board is a lot longer then the 4ft width of my pickup? Quote
Tony_Urwin Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Oh yeah. It's 72-74" long. Might make a nice side rail, but I only have the one. It would be hard to shorten it because the carving goes right out to the ends. Here's a picture of the one I am using. This was taken before I narrowed the stakebed, but you get the idea. Quote
Vintrader Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Allen, what is your wheelbase? Dutch Quote
Vintrader Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Allen, and you have no bed? Are you looking for a 116" Express bed? Dutch Quote
Allen I. Posted August 11, 2007 Author Report Posted August 11, 2007 I have a pretty good homemade stake bed. Gets lots of compliments but there is nothing like an original pickup bed. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=62&d=1161810148 http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63&d=1161810157 As for the express bed, I'm not in a hurry for anything. If it comes along, fine, if not that is fine too. You are in Penn right? You have any pics and prices? Quote
Reg Evans Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 I'm in the market for a 9' high sided box for a COE project. Anyone have one available? Quote
Vintrader Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Allen, No I am in NY as well. The only 8' 116" Express bed I have is on my truck. But I do see them from time to time. I see more of them from later trucks 53 to 60's where the bed I think would work on your truck but the fenders are different. Can anyone comment on this? Dutch Quote
Reg Evans Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Here's a photo of my 57 1 ton with a 9' box. I think these fenders were used from 53 up until the late 70's or longer. Quote
Allen I. Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 I have a 57 with a nice box on it (about the best thing on it) but I am waiting for the right opportunity. There is allegedly a guy near me that has a bunch of stuff. I'll take a ride out there in the fall after the weeds die down and before the snow flies. With luck, that won;t be the same day this year. Reg -- Any chance you have extra headlight bezels for the 57? Quote
townwagon Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 Allen, I have a set of 1957 bezels in good shape, look here to see them: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ihviewitem=&item=150151167511 They came off a 57 I found in western MT so they are super clean. Eric Quote
