Hi,

I have a Dodge convertible 1947 and I want to dismantle the side view mirrors, but I can't for my life understand how to remove them from the car. They are situated at the same way as the ones on the picture. Does anyone know how it's done? Cheers // Mats

that piece of stainless trim on my 47 coupe is held on by a fastener.  You have to pry out the bottom and then it just lifts off.  I'm guessing that the mirror is attached to the trim piece not the body.  If it's the body you'll have to get up under the dash and reach in from the inside.

I recently found a passenger side mirror for my convertible (yeah, I know it's useless...) the casting has one bolt hole in the center of the back. Try as I might I can't see how to access the back of the fender to install it.

Bolts through the cowl. Access them from inside the car

about dashboard level. That mirror replaces the short little

piece of side trim.

There does not seem to be much room to get your hand into there nor any combination of wrenches/sockets.  With the welded dash in the convertible, I really don't see how to get in there. Anyone else installed/removed these in the past?

I found that my trim pieces (no mirror) could be accessed from behind when the kick panel trim piece was removed.  Unless the convertible cowl is that much different, there should be a place to get to the nuts that hold the trim clips, or are the mirrors not held on by the H shaped clip?
