starter

had my starter rebuild today. the guy asked me if there was something that kept the arm from moving while the truck is running. i told him when i took off the starter, i didnt take off anything like that. he said the old chevys had something like that but not sure about the dodges. so before i put it back and try it, is there anything missing?

do you have the push pedal?  that has a spring that runs from the toeboard to the bottom of the pad.  the pedal should be linked to the arm on the starter.  the spring prevents the arm from moving.

yes mine is. i told the guy that there was a pedal to push down on. i think he was getting confused with the chevy trucks. he also said maybe i could adjust it if possible

The chevys starter is on the right hand side of the engine, opposite the dodges on the left.

The chevy floor starter connects to a linkage that goes behind the head to the other side and connects to the starter.

 

On my dodge foot starter, the original was broke and I found another from a different truck, international I guess, it bolts right up and rest on top of the starter.

I have the pedal start too. On the B2B is there a spring or a linkage that holds the starter lever to the pedal?
