That tool is a "dammit."

We used a variety of them in the Navy.  Whenever we needed a tool or instrument that we couldn't name, we would simply say "give me that 'dammit' over there."  Very effective tool with lots of shapes, sizes and uses.

It is made for using on 40's/50's Mopars.... according to the literature that came with it.

I've studied the pics, thought it over, then studied again. I have no idea. Whatever it is I've either never been faced with the job it is used for or did it the hard way as I often do.

Good trivia question for sure.

It's a 'Guzzinta Gage' similar to a trammel bar, just different.

It guzzinta what you wanna measure or set up to be the same as what the other one was.

Uh huh.

Two things I noticed. The little blue end is made to slide up and down. And there is a razor blade laying on the shop table.

I believe it is holder upper thingy to adjust something for correct placement

I'm gonna guess that it's used to seat the brushes on the generator so the stator can be inserted without the whole thing going catty-wampus haywire B)

My first thought was maybe a tool to find top dead center, but if it is only for 40's-50's, kinda leaves out the engine as would include 30's also
