grey beard
Do any of you big truck guys know how Timken or Eaton two speed axle ratios are identified - without counting teeth, etc? Are they marked externally? Any info will he helpful. Thanks
Thunder II
From what I can tell by using the shop manual & paperwork from my truck, and I'm sure that you know that I am no expert..... Ahem.... The regular two speed axle, which I have, is an EATON. So my guess is, that the double reduction , two speed axle, is the Timken. If you use this info, be sure to cover your bet..... Now that I have you TOTALLY screwed up, I'll sit back and let the experts respond.....
anthonyb
Look on the horizontal surfaces on the pumpkin. The high range ratio should be stamped there somewhere. My two speed is stamped 5.83. The low range for that one is 8.11. Won't get me anywhere very fast but I can pull the Queen Mary down the street doing it.
