Assuming you have a three speed or four speed manual transmission, not a "Truck o matic" start your truck in neutral.  Place it in second gear for the three speed, or third for four speed using the clutch. Put your foot on the brake pedal and slowly release the clutch.  If the engine doesn't stall, and continues to idle as it should you either have fluid drive or a very worn out clutch.  If you can release the brake drive away and stop without using the clutch, it is likely a fluid drive equipped vehicle.  Remember the fluid drive unit is not the transmission.  It is a hydraulic power transfer unit with a standard dry clutch assembly attached to it.  Go to the all par website and search fluid drive for the whole nine yards description and explanation.

Park on a steep hill, and leave truck in gear, do not apply parking brake and get out of the truck you will find out quickly. no don't try this it could result in injury or damage to the truck, just kidding.

All of the above posts will confirm your question...........
