ssnowden Posted July 5, 2016 Report Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) We got out in the RV last week and went to Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn MI. If you haven't been there, is worth the trip. Plotting my route back home to KY, I did a Google maps search of "Car Museums" in MI before heading home. The one I picked was the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners MI. http://www.gilmorecarmuseum.org It was a great choice! It's a very impressive place. It's a whole campus of buildings with about 400 antique cars. They have some really rare cars and whole collections of Hudsons, Pierce-Arrows, steam cars and even a whole room full of Franklin Automobile Company's air cooled cars. Ones that really caught my eye were the 1934 DeSoto Airflow and a a 1954 Kaiser Darrin and a Tucker. Some of the buildings were really interesting. They built replicas of a Ford dealership and a Cadillac dealership as well as an old Shell station. Here is a link to some of the pictures I took while there. https://goo.gl/photos/yiVRM77wEFUpjQpX7 Edited July 5, 2016 by ssnowden
epix1718 Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 I live near this gem! They really are quite a treasure out in the "middle of nowhere Michigan". They host some great events each year and really care about preserving history. Glad you got to experience the place!!
ssnowden Posted July 14, 2016 Author Report Posted July 14, 2016 Me too. I agree, it's a great place to spend some time if you love antique and classic cars. I'd definitely go again.
