ggdad1951 Posted July 2, 2015 Report Posted July 2, 2015 Todd that's an original, not a repop? NICE! Quote

NiftyFifty Posted July 2, 2015 Report Posted July 2, 2015 Nice find, I'm a bit of a sign junkie, and originals are always my goal. Since shows like American Pickers and others it's harder to find anything left out there Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 2, 2015 Report Posted July 2, 2015 oh they still out there...price has just gone through the roof.... 1 Quote
NiftyFifty Posted July 2, 2015 Report Posted July 2, 2015 Ya, I paint in my shop, and don't cover every sign up, so I'm not getting in deep on any sign lol Quote
Todd B Posted July 2, 2015 Author Report Posted July 2, 2015 Nice find, I'm a bit of a sign junkie, and originals are always my goal. Since shows like American Pickers and others it's harder to find anything left out there I am going on a bike vacation next week and that is part of the plan to stop at the pickers place in IOWA. I am so excited Quote

austinsailor Posted July 8, 2015 Report Posted July 8, 2015 We stopped at the picker's place 2 years ago. It's really more of a t-shirt shop, not much else to say. Hardly anything for sale. Oh, they had stuff but wouldn't sell it. I had my vintage camper on my truck and was pulling my vintage (1954) Alumacraft boat with my 1956 Mercury outboard. Everyone seemed to agree that my junk was better than their junk. Maybe with the new building finished there'll be things to buy. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted July 8, 2015 Report Posted July 8, 2015 Ya I've gone online looking for their buys and you get nothing but repop junk and TV show shwag, but I imagine their best stuff all goes to private collectors right after the show is over. The junk would be what's left. My next trip to Bismarck will have a few stops with cash in hand....seen a few beauties still in the small towns Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 8, 2015 Report Posted July 8, 2015 (edited) I believe the pickers from what little I see of their show, mums usually will watch it to se what they turn up next, anyway they seem more of a 'target outfit' than a retail facility. They have buyers in advance and they going for the confirmed sale in the long run....like most all reality shows, more hype than anything else..I also spoke to a guy who stated he was contacted by the show...he said they showed up...picked over the place decided it was not SHOW worthy and the stars never made an appearance..maybe garnered a bit of salt to lace the next show...better to have an open mind with them shows that open eyes..entire staff dedicated to the search...inventory...writing the facts for the script for the two guys to deadpan.. I would guess that at some time in her youth she was a good looker. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted July 8, 2015 Report Posted July 8, 2015 Looks good Todd. Need another pic with the doors open and the semi peeking out. Quote

Todd B Posted July 14, 2015 Author Report Posted July 14, 2015 American Pickers place was a huge disappointment!!! Just as you guys said, most items are not for sale and t-shirts everywhere for sale. We did however stop at the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa Iowa. That was amazingly cool. They had a 1941 HD with a Goulding Package truck sidecar with Dodge job rated logos on it. I have pictures and will send later. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 The shop was likely something at one time, but like friends that have gone to the Pawn Stars store, it's just full of crap to buy about the show, and a bunch of over priced stuff that doesn't really seem for sale...not to mention none of those guys are ever there unless taping, then their not open to the general public.
