It will work fine as is when operating correctly.

Don't frick up/ mickey mouse a properly operating dodge truck starter.

the Dodge truck starter has a pinion that is manually (well, podiatrically) engaged to the flywheel ring gear to get the crankshaft to turn over, with a fork mechanism engaged by a foot pedal...it's a simple design that works well, so ya don't want to fork that up :cool:
