pay my price or it will rot

Not surprised, happens all the time.....either "pay what I want" or "I'll get to it one day".....typical.

nothing wrong with a guy holding out for his price...he may be reasonable or out of the world wrong...but it is still yet his car his options...Ihave seen quite anumber of cars go to the crusher and in a few instances..the country/city or whatever governing entity says its got to go..and go it does...and guess what..they get the bill for the clean up in some cases..while it did not help the ole car...you can sometimes still get the last laugh..

Another interesting story and place.   Long gone now.

There was some dealership in New York as I recall that had one or two buildings just stuffed with parts......

the buildings were so old and overloaded, they were starting to fall down.  Don't recall any further info

now...........they were willing to sell things at the time....several years ago.  Does that story sound familiar

to anyone?

Ed and I went to a yard (Brainerd, MN) one day and while the guy was mostly reasonable, on some vehicles he just would not budge.  It was obvious he'd never get what he wanted for them.  Hopefully they didn't get crushed!  We also visited a yard in Eau Claire WI where the prices for parts were either ridiculously high or low with no rhyme or reason.

some parts are prices on what the area around them will support based on traffic and what is being built...some cars are never in the  limelight and thus their parts are sometimes reasonable as the man knows the little items sold from it will be icing to the cake come crusher time..some yard owners never see the big picture and sit on parts and refuse to sell.  Sadly we had a yard near here that was as such...could have made a fortune selling the parts instead he fought a battle with the EPA when a woods fire encroached his property and set a tire mound on fire... after they twice bent over backward with date extensions, and him saying it is his to do as he wishes.....EPA crushed sold and cleared the yard of all contents, man was restrained from being on his own property and they sent the owner the bill for any remaining funds for the clean up.  He had some truly nice cars on that hill that would have been nice builds...mainly from the 50's.  I was able to get a few pieces from a 54 Plymouth .

I managed to save just one ash tray knob on a solid P-15 body I saw crushed. I got the steering box from another, then crrrr-unch!

It was sad to see them go, but their parts will live on...

Several yards have been crushed out in our general area since the 1970s.

At first some of the old Mopars looked terribly picked-over...   But the longer I

looked at them, and thought about it, the more I saw they had left that could be

useful.

It would be ideal to buy the complete car, then take it home and work with

it.  However, many of us do not have trailers nor places to park some parts cars,

even if the purchase price were right.

This one is over in Kansas.....have gotten a few things from it......and need to look

at it some more.

Yeah......... you see what I mean?    You guys have already pointed out two fairly obvious items already.

Don't recall how good the rocker trim is, but perhaps not too bad.   I  think the manifolds lying on the

rear gravel shield may be good too.  The owner of that car has a P15 two seat coupe in his garage....

it runs but needs some work.  Don't know if he will need anything off this sedan or not.

I had a guy wander up to the house & accuse me of letting stuff rot in my yard after he wanted to take one off of my hands for a c-note.  When I pointed out to him that I could sell it for scrap for more than that, he said I had a poor attitude and stomped off.  Not only did he not make a counter-offer, he never asked where I got the beasts or in what condition they were in when I did drag them out of the weeds or, in three cases, how close they were to being crushed.  Some folks' perception is a little skewed I reckon...

lot of truth in that assumption...he was just a flipper...as a serious person would not walk away from a promising project without a bit of back and forth...clearly it tweaked his interest to ask..but flippers...just another disguise for a vulture..

There's an old wrecking yard located in Junction City,Kansas - still in business. A couple of videos are on youtube showing some of his inventory ."Easy Jacks 1" and "Easy Jacks 2"
