Normspeed
Pushed the old P24 pretty hard last week. After one hard 75 mph freeway run to Burbank, I noticed some oil had blown back onto my firewall. Looks like I cracked the flare on the steel inlet line at my oil filter. This morning I tightened it up real tight and drove about 15 miles before stopping for gas. Noticed that I had left a trail of drips when pulling into the gas station. Opened the hood and what a mess! Topped it off, it was over two quarts low, and limped home, shutting off the motor and coasting down all the grades. Funny thing is, my home made copper return line didn't crack but the factory steel inlet line did. I want to replace these with something like braided stainless covered flex lines. Can anyone suggest a source for those, with the proper fittings?
BobT-47P15
Your copper return line is probably newer than the original inlet lline??? Maybe it just got tired and gave up. Nothing like a nice coating of oil on stuff under the hood. You should have seen the mess when the oil filter lid gasket was not good......that thing has quite a bit of pressure. Sprays real good. Merle Coggins
Are your oil filter lines using a double flare type fitting? If so I would think you should be able to find steel braided brake lines that would work. Check with performance or race equipment shops in your area.
