austinsailor Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 We're considering buying a car near Seattle. I'm guessing I could ship it for less than the cost of a 4000 mile round trip - not counting the wear and tear on my and the truck. I know shipping has been discussed from time to time. What can I realistically expect this to cost? How do I avoid the shipper induced nightmares? Thoughts? Yes, I just made a 2400 mile round trip, but another 4000 mile trip right after is a bit much. Reg Evans Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 I just had a car shipped to me from Tacoma ,Washington to Grass Valley,Ca. 700 miles and the cost was only $400. Drivers name was Chris @ 916-549-3240 Affordable Transport. It would have cost me more than that to do it myself at 1400 miles round trip. Quote
casper50 Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 I have had real good dealings with Jeff Tillman tmasj69@yahoo.com http://www.uship.com/profile/razzy/ If you speak to him tell him Mike in Alaska recommended him. Cheapest that I could find that had good recommendations. Did what he said. Quote
bobjob55 Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 Had a car shipped from Disneyland area ,,to just outside Casa Grande AZ. AROUND 400 miles.. cost $200.00 Quote
jcmiller Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 Take a look at uship.com. It works kind of like Ebay. You input what you want shipped and shippers bid on the job. I used it once for a car and had a good mix of bids, some from brokers and a few from local guys. Quote
austinsailor Posted October 6, 2014 Author Report Posted October 6, 2014 I talked to Chris, got a bid that seemed reasonable. Now all I have to do is buy the car. 1 Quote

austinsailor Posted October 15, 2014 Author Report Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) Thanks Niel, it was 5AM and I was wide awake! Can't get the inspection until 8. Then drive 30 Miles to Jeff City, the capital and get tags. Edited October 15, 2014 by austinsailor Quote
