Throttle shaft clearance?

I've had a bit rougher idle than I'd like for some time and I am beginning to think it could be due to air leaking around the throttle shaft. I guess I should get some carb cleaner or equivalent and spray it around the shaft ends while the engine is running to verify.

But the engineer in me wants to measure the the clearance between the shaft and the bores in the throttle body and see if they are within specification. But I don't see a specification for that in any of my factory service manuals nor in my period general repair manuals...

Anyone got a specification for that?

Even if I test the current situation by spraying inflammable gas around the shaft, I think I'd need proper specifications anyway if I was putting in bushings to repair the problem.
