Joe Flanagan Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 There is a brass or bronze brake line fitting bolted to the frame just inside the left front wheel that is a T-junction where the line comes up from the master cylinder and then branches off left and right to the two front wheels. My original is gone, and I was wondering if they can be found anywhere. I used a T that does not bolt to the frame and it's really difficult to get the lines installed, since this area is now very hard to get at with all the sheet metal in place, the engine, etc. I already had to remove the generator to get access. I currently have a leak at this fitting and will be redoing the connection soon. I'd like to either get a fitting like the original or find a way to secure an aftermarket one to the frame. Has anyone seen these around or has anyone fabricated a bracket of some kind that allows you to bolt the T-junction down? Roberts doesn't have them, by the way. Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 The original junction block also serves as the home of the brake line pressure switch for the stop lights. How are you triggering your stop light switch? Quote
_shel_ny Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) T does not have to be located there. Extend your lines, and put the T where it is more accessible. Edit: spelling Edited June 9, 2014 by shel_ny Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted June 9, 2014 Author Report Posted June 9, 2014 Don, the pressure switch for my brake lights is by the left rear wheel. Shel, I'd never do something like that. It's too easy. Quote
RobertKB Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 I might have one on a '54 parts car I have. My parts book indicates they are the same '49 to '54. The brake switch on my '51 is just before the rubber hose that goes from the frame to the brake block on the rear axle. It is not in the same location as on the '46 - '48. Joe, I will try to find time tomorrow to check if it is sitll there and PM you. I have to go get a picture of a hood for a P15 that I have as well. Quote
DJ194950 Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) Joe, you should be able to find what your looking for a at fully stocked local parts place but if not, will something like this work for you? Previous added file of fitting-wrong sizes of connections! Try summitracing.com- 972054erl or 972059erl or chrome with steel mt. garj9034 DJ Edited June 9, 2014 by DJ194950 Quote
desoto1939 Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Joe: can you look in your parts book and find the part number. I have a Wagner brake catalog and it shows several variations for the junction block. If you send me the Mopar number I might able to cross reference the number to a wagner number. I will give it a try but can not guarantee if they are listed. Try the bay I found a used one for my 39 desoto on there. These are not cheap if you get an original Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com Quote

I have one of these as an extra. Note that the line that come from the master cylinder has a biggler line then the lines going to the brakes.. So be careful when buying these brake blocks. RobertKB Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 (edited) This is what Joe is looking for, part number 1141472. It is from a '54 Plymouth but is identical to the one from my '51. Note that where all three lines connect are the same size. I've decided to keep it as it is a good spare for either my '51 project or '53 Plymouth when I redo the brake lines at some point. Sounds like Ed has one for Joe anyway. Edited June 10, 2014 by RobertKB 1 Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted June 10, 2014 Author Report Posted June 10, 2014 That's it, Robert. Ed is looking to see if he's got one. Quote

Joe: Looked in my Wagner brake catalog: 1119410 equal wagner Frame tee FC10593 1118161 equals wagner axle tee FC10592 The next number that someone provided for the 49 is not in my x-reference number under the Mopar section Quote
