eric wissing Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 I have a 67 SAAB (ok stop laughing!) and the key broke off in the switch so the starter stays engaged. I want to just by-pass the key all together. One switch for on/off and a button or another switch to engage the starter. (no one will steal this). Will electrical switches that can carry 110v hold up? is the amperage to high here. Thanks. There is a SAAB forum but the hobby seems dominated by a few who sell things to keep them running which is cool most of the time. Eric Quote
Dave72dt Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 sure, they'll hold up but man, real tacky looking. Your local parts house, hardware store etc. will carry toggle and push button switches, even generic ign switches and look 100 times better than household light switches. Quote
eric wissing Posted May 20, 2014 Author Report Posted May 20, 2014 I was thinking of using toggles, not an actual wall switch! Ha! Thanks.Eric Quote
TodFitch Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 Last I noticed, my local bubble wrap auto supply store sold generic ignition/starter switches. . . Seems like mounting one generic switch would be easier than mounting two switches. 2 Quote
eric wissing Posted May 20, 2014 Author Report Posted May 20, 2014 I will have to check on that. Duh, never thought of that. I can cut a hole in the dash for it. Quote
eric wissing Posted June 2, 2014 Author Report Posted June 2, 2014 went to parts store, used the lighter's hole and with a bit of tracing, I found the right wires and it worked! Thanks, a $10 fix. Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 2, 2014 Report Posted June 2, 2014 What will you do the next time a buddy wants a light, you need to charge your texting device, plug in your GPS, etc? 1 Quote
eric wissing Posted June 2, 2014 Author Report Posted June 2, 2014 Don, There is a hole in the right fender where there was an antenna. The passenger could reach it from inside. I'd want his head hanging out of the car while he smoked anyway and GPS? What is that? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 2, 2014 Report Posted June 2, 2014 if you know where you are going and can read the map..maybe you can plug in your Generic Police Spotter... Quote
